This May, maker Sara Beach of Angry Owl studios led a two part workshop teaching students how to pour acrylic resin using two part epoxy. Sara uses this process in making jewelry for her etsy shop and in creating her tiny art pieces she sells through Art-o-Mat.
This epoxy takes over 24 hours to cure, so the workshop was taught in two parts. On the first day, students were taught how to mix and pour the epoxy and add pigments to color the acrylic.
After the acrylic was poured and cured, the students came back two days later to pull their pieces out of the molds and seal them. Hardware was added to the back, and each student went home with a new jewelry holder or cabinet knobs.
Big thanks to Sara for teaching this workshop! If you missed this workshop and still want to learn how to pour acrylic resin, Sara will be teaching another class this September with Laura Sissoko of Atlantic Fine Wood.
